Youth held for murder of friend in Fujairah

Fujairah - The police arrested 21-year-old A.M.R. for murdering his friend, A.A.R., 23, the police said on Monday.

An Emirati was arrested in Fujairah within eight hours after he allegedly stabbed a compatriot to death along the Fujairah Corniche.

The victim was found bleeding profusely. He later succumbed to his injuries at the Fujairah Hospital. The Fujairah Police were notified late on Saturday that the victim was lying in a pool of blood in the corniche area.
Colonel Mohammed Ahmed Abdullah Al Shaair, Director of the Criminal Investigations Department, said the police managed to identify the suspect, who was arrested within eight hours. The suspect also admitted to the charge.
In his confession, the suspect said he and the victim were preparing dinner by the beach when both of then started arguing.
"The suspect suddenly took a knife and stabbed his friend before fleeing the place in his car," Colonel Shaair said,
"The victim tried to drive to the hospital, but because of his wounds he lost control and the vehicle slipped and stopped near a slope on the beach," he added.
Brigadier Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanim Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police praised the officers for identifying the suspect and getting hold of him within eight hours.
