Chakravyuha will silence my critics

Says Rachita Ram
Chakravyuha will silence my critics
Darshan, Sudeep, Ganesh, Sriimurali and now Puneeth Rajkumar ' Rachita Ram has worked with some of the biggest actors in Sandalwood. The actress, who credits this to being lucky, adds that when it comes to picking films, it is her role that is important and not her co-star. Ahead of the release of her next, Chakravyuha, Rachita lets us in on what it is like to work with the biggies of the Kannada film industry and how she chills out.
Excerpts'
What is your role like in Chakrayuha?
My character is a very bubbly girl, who keeps pampering and irritating the hero throughout the film. I become a little emotional and sensitive in the second half due to certain situations. This is the first time that I have cried so much in a film. In fact, this movie has given me a chance to enact all kinds of emotions. It is a performance-oriented role and I get to show off my versatility.
So, is this one of your best roles to date?
Definitely. I have never done a movie because of the hero, director or producer. I have only picked movies because of my role. I have loved all the characters that I have played so far, but I have really got to perform in every scene in this movie. I have many individual scenes and I have to thank the team for giving me the opportunity to play such a fabulous role. I am a lucky heroine for having got a chance to work with big stars back-to-back. There were people who said that I couldn't achieve this, but I ignored all gossip and this movie will show them all what I can do.

You seem to be taking your time while choosing films'
I look out for a professional team and of course, my role has to be equal to the hero. It is not easy to work with big stars; many heroines feature in 2-3 songs and are barely seen for the rest of the movie. I don't like that and want to be present throughout the film. I don't want to collect scripts and do many films just for the sake of it. I have been approached for films with big stars, in which I am expected to do be in three songs that are shot abroad. I have turned down such films.
What is Puneeth like as a co-star?
He is a fantastic worker and a very bindaas person. He is very humble and down-to-earth, and you can't tell that he is Rajkumar's son. I was wowed and overwhelmed by him on the first day of the shoot. Our chemistry has been great and everyone has been telling me that we look good onscreen. He is very energetic, and despite being 42 years old, he acts like a college kid. He keeps cracking jokes and ensures that the atmosphere is always jovial on set. All of them have their own style of acting and all are fabulous. I love them all and have learnt something from each one of them. They are all very professional, but if I had to point out something unique, I would say that Darshan is very chilled-out and is my mentor as he keeps giving me tips. Sudeep is very humble and is my inspiration. Puneeth is like a power generator and keeps boosting me up. All of them are my favourite co-stars.

And you will be playing Ramesh Aravind's daughter next in Pushpaka Vimana'
I have worked with all the top stars and was never nervous around them. But when I met Ramesh Aravind sir, I was extremely nervous and didn't know what I was saying. I was at a complete a loss of words. It was really nice to work with Rameshji and I am lucky to be a part of his 100th film. It is also the first time that he is playing a father, and it was an awesome experience.
How do you unwind when you are not shooting?
I love going to temples when I am not working. I'm a big devotee of Lord Anjaneya and I keep going to his temple. Apart from that, I meet my friends on the weekends when I'm not shooting and go shopping with them and my mother. I'm a shopaholic and was born to shop.
