Italy’s Selex Sees Growth In Private Label Wine Sales

Italian food distribution group, Selex has reported increased sales in 2015 for its private label wine range, Le Vie dell’Uva.

Sales totaled €10 million for almost 3 million bottles, representing growth of 14 per cent in value and 13.7 per cent in volume on 2014, well above overall wine sales in the group’s supermarkets.

Launched by Selex in 2012, the Le Vie dell’Uva line now includes 57 wines, representative of the different regions of Italy.

The private label ranges more premium bottles – those priced at €6 or more – were especially well received by Italian consumers, especially those that showcased regional winemaking skills.

According to Selex, this indicated that consumers are looking for the right balance between price and quality when purchasing wine.

For 2016-2017, Selex’s plan is to further enrich the line with new 'wines of excellence', said Luca Vaccaro, Director of Private Label Brands of the Selex Group.
