April 11, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - New Delhi:

A 25-year-old engineer was fatally run over by a bus when he lost balance and the motorcycle fell in Outer Delhi’s Alipur on Saturday night. The victim Saurabh Bhattacharya was returning to Delhi from Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba in Murthal where he had gone with his woman-friend for dinner.

“As they were returning on a motorcycle, the motorcycle fell after the biker lost balance on an uneven road that was partially dug up for repair,” said a senior police officer. Almost immediately, Bhattacharya was run over by a white bus following close behind. The victim’s woman-friend saw the bus, but was unable to note down its registration number because of which the bus remains unidentified. The woman escaped with relatively minor injuries and was discharged from hospital after being administered first aid, police said. Bhattacharya’s family lives in Karnal while he stayed in Mayur Vihar where he was preparing for the civil services examination.
