‘Maha to build 5 lakh farm ponds’
Amravati: The state government has initiated an ambitious scheme — ‘Magel tyala shet tale’ scheme (farm lake whoever asks for it) — under which the government proposes to build five lakh farm ponds in five years, said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday at the inaugural ceremony of ‘Krishi Vikas’ exhibition organized at Science Core ground.
Union minister for road transport Nitin Gadkari, state transport minister Diwakar Raote, district in-charge minister Pravin Pote and state home minister Dr Ranjit Patil were also present.

Fadnavis added that the government has sanctioned a textile park in Amravati and Raymonds would be opening its unit at this park.
At the 51st death anniversary function of the late Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh, Fadnavis assured the ‘Shiv Parivar’ of efforts to ensure Bharat Ratna to Deshmukh, the first agriculture minister of India and founder president of Shri Shivaji Education Society.
The CM also attended the bhoomipuja of ‘Govansha Chikitsalaya’ of Gokulam Gorakshan Sanstha at Nandura Bu in Amravati tehsil.
The project spread over 30 acres is situated 10km from Amravati city on Chandur Bazar road. It provides free medicare to cows. At present, there are 200 cows at this clinic and facility has been created to house 1,000 cows in the future. Someshwar Pusatkar presented a cheque for Rs one lakh to Fadnavis for treatment of cows at the clinic. Later, the CM also performed bhoomipujan of the flood protection wall at the village.
