Peter Hickman produced a dramatic last lap at Silverstone to fight off Shane Byrne and take his second British Superbike Championship win.
In a race which shadowed the 2016 opener, Byrne scythed through the field to challenge Hickman after race one winner Michael Laverty (Tyco BMW) suffered a technical problem to drop from first to sixth.
The leaders almost collided around the tight Luffield bend, but Hickman (JG Speedfit Kawasaki) won by 0.099 seconds with Byrne (Be Wiser Ducati) crossing the line sideways to finish second again.
Christian Iddon (Tyco BMW) held on to a second consecutive third place despite picking up a 0.5secs penalty for exceeding track limits.
