Veteran director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao ticked the funny bone regaling the audiences with his ready wit at the “Sahiti Vasanthotsavam,” Ugadi celebrations organised by Sahitya Samakhya here on Friday evening.
The ace director who had over the last six decades directed some of the outstanding movies, also gave a philosophical touch comparing the Western though to the oriental thought.
Stating that Indianness borders on a slight exaggeration and hyperbole, he said that western thought bordered on more practical way of a life. “People often invite me to attend meetings where I would be felicitated. But I wonder why being a director, who just has to manage every body from the actor to the light boy, should be felicitated,”' the 86-year-old director said.
The evening also saw IGP, CID, P.V Sunil Kumar sharing his thoughts on the writing and alternative thought processes.
Writer and critic C. Mrunalini, poet Andesri with his spontaneous burst of poetry on ‘River’,' B.V Ram Kumar regaled the audiences in their respective genres. Sahiti Samakhya president DVSM Rammurthy, general secretary SVS Lakshminarayana, secretary R Ramu were present.
