Pune: The Kondhwa police solved four burglaries and recovered cash and gold ornaments totally worth Rs 10.6 lakh, following the arrest of two brothers earlier this week.
Police said Mustafa Shakil Ansari (26) was arrested on April 3 for burgling a flat at Brahma Estate in Kondhwa on March 24. His elder brother Murtuza (32) was arrested on April 4 after investigation by the Kondhwa police revealed that the duo were jointly involved in a series of burglaries.

The brothers, during interrogation, confessed to four more burglaries, including two in the jurisdiction of Kondhwa, and one each in Wanowrie and Marketyard stations since 2013.
A search at the residence of the Ansaris led to the recovery of Rs 50,000 in cash and some Indonesian and Israeli currency notes, while the gold ornaments were recovered from a city-based jeweller.
Police said the Ansaris' modus operandi was that they would use an elevator to reach the top floor of a building and inspect locked flats. Instead of breaking the locks, however, they would scale walls using water or drainage pipelines and enter balconies. Mustafa is a criminal on record since 2010, while this was Murtuza's first arrest, police said. Mustafa has studied till Class 3, while Murtuza till Class 7, police added.
Mustafa was arrested by the crime branch of Pune police on April 3 for allegedly committing a burglary in a flat at Bramha Estate in Kondhwa on March 24, 2016. His custody was later transferred to the Kondhwa police for taking further action. Sub inspector Nitin Atkare under senior inspector Rajendra Mokashi the incharge of the Kondhwa police station during investigations arrested his brother Murtuza on April 4 after investigations revealed that the duo were jointly involved in a spate of burglaries reported in Kondhwa and other places.
