Upanyasam exponent to play Vedanta Desika

Dushyanth Sridhar, writer and upanyasam expert, is all set to make his film debut with the film, Thoopul Vedanta Desika ��� a film to be directed by Muktha Srinivasan. Dushyanth will be playing the role of the 13th-century philosopher, poet and Vaishnava guru, Vedanta Desika. ���He was a poet and philosopher par excellence. He was born in Kanchipuram, and has written over 120 works in Sanskrit, Tamil, Manipravalam and Prakrit.The film will be about his life and literary contribution,��� says Dushyanth.
���It will be the 750th anniversary of Vedanta Desika in 2018 and so, Muktha sir wanted to a film on his life. The best way for people to know about this guru is through films, and so, Muktha sir decided to make one. He told me it was after seeing my work and lectures on TV and YouTube that he approached me to play the lead. I was honoured to take up the project, but had one condition ��� I wanted to write the story, screenplay and dialogues, as we didn���t want to go wrong with the facts. For about six months, I did research, and we finally have a script now. The pre-production work is going on and we will start shooting from October.���
Rajkumar Bharathi, the great grandson of poet Subramania Bharati, will be scoring music. ���We have selected a few compositions of the guru for the film. Also, since he lived in the 13th century, we will identify temples that have that architecture, for shooting locations,��� informs Dushyanth.
