Mohanlal finds the blind man act challenging

While Mohanlal has played a visually-challenged protagonist in cult films such as Yodha and Guru, his current venture Oppam has proved to be challenge, he says. And it's not with regard to acting but with how his character is shown in the movie.
'Oppam is more of a director's movie especially because I play a visually-challenged hero in it. The character doesn't have a perspective and so cameras aren't placed like how they are usually done in other movies.The angles and the way the scenes are captured are different,' says Mohanlal, adding that the movie also has 'a challenging subject of murder mystery' at its core.
The actor hints that his character in Oppam will be visually challenged for the entire movie unlike in Yodha and Guru in which the protagonists pass through a phase of temporary blindness before recovering vision.
The movie, directed and scripted by Priyadarshan, will pose an equal challenge to the filmmaker, who has scripted a thriller for the first time. 'Mohanlal's character happens to be the only 'witness' of a murder. If he can't prove who the killer is, he will be charged with the crime. It's basically a cat-and-mouse game,' he says.
Oppam has Samuthirakani playing the antagonist while Chemban Vinod, Vimala Raman, Mammukoya and Kanaran Harish play the other important characters.
