New weekend destinations for Bacchus lovers

Patna: Boozers in Bihar are looking for the nearest weekend destinations in neighbouring states following total prohibition in the state from April 5. Surprisingly, Deoghar is emerging one such favourite place for Bacchus lovers to go and come back the same day. Deoghar is one of the major pilgrimage centres in the eastern India.
"It takes nearly three hours to reach the temple city in Jharkhand by train.
One can be back to Patna the same day after offering prayers at the Shiva temple and 'relaxing' during day time. My family is also very happy with my sudden inclination for religious activities," said Saket, a young software professional.
"It would be the only way to relax myself. Instead of spending more money, I am planning my summer vacation in Darjeeling," said Sudarshan of Purnia, who plans his visit via Siliguri.
Utkarsh, a passionate traveller pursuing technical courses in the city, feels depressed because of the non-availability of alcohol. "I am a beer lover, but that is also banned. It would be impossible for me to bear the scorching heat without beer or breezer. I want to spend some quality time in the picturesque environment of Jhumri Tilaiya in Jharkhand, which is hardly over 100km from Nalanda," he said.
A group of five family members in Sitamarhi wish to visit the famous Janakpur dham in Nepal. Janakpur is very close to Bitthamore (Sitamarhi) and Basopatti (Madhubani). The city is the birthplace of Goddess Sita. "It would be a complete family affair with lots of fun and frolic," said Ashutosh Singh, head of the family.

"There would be a favoured 'booze destination' in neighbouring states soon. Travel agents and managers are planning the booze/beer destination for weekends," said Prashant Kumar, a young Patna entrepreneur.
There are several nearby places like Rajauli, Simultala (bordering Jharkhand), Janakpur (Nepal), Siliguri, Birganj, Gorakhpur, Tarapith and Jogbani with the potential to become a tourist destination for Bacchus lovers, said a travel agent in bordering Nepal. Tarapith is a small town near Rampurhat in Birbhum district of West Bengal, known for its tantric temple and its adjoining cremation grounds where tantric rites are performed. Thousands of people from Bihar visit this Shakti Peeth, particularly during Durga Puja and Diwali.
"Since nobody would be carrying any liquor bottle to Bihar, it's better to enjoy for a day or two outside the state every week," said another travel agent. "We are already receiving a large number of queries regarding such destinations," said Raman, an Araria based agent.
