Pay property tax, avail discount: GHMC chief

GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy appealed to the property tax payers under Greater Hyderabad limits to pay their property tax before April 30 and avail 5 per cent discount of the total property tax in the Early Bird Scheme.

The Commissioner said that this time, the GHMC is expecting to collect Rs. 200 crore in the Early Bird Scheme. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Reddy said the scheme was introduced in the year 2013-14 and it collected Rs. 109 crore. In the year 2014-15, Rs. 111 crore was collected and in the year 2015-16, around Rs. 161 crore was collected under the scheme, he added.

Akin to Bangalore Municipal Corporation, the Commissioner informed that the GHMC is planning to introduce an online system for building permissions very soon.
