Four men held for murder of police informant

Four men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old police informant who was killed earlier this week.

According to police, Gunaseelan, Jayaseelan, Karthik and Wilson were arrested from their hideout in Shenoy Nagar on Thursday.

The men allegedly murdered Raju alias Deepak, a resident of Vanagaram on April 4. Deepak, who had some cases pending against him, had turned a police informant and was trying to lead a life away from crime and had since reformed.

The gang murdered him while he was asleep on the terrace above a public toilet in Aminjikarai.

Woman hit by bus, dies

A 70-year-old woman was killed after an MTC bus hit her when she was trying to cross the road early Thursday morning. According to police, Rangamani, a resident of Kundrathur, was on her way to the Parthasarathy temple in Triplicane.

Around 5.30 a.m., when she reached Kamarajar Salai, she attempted to cross the road when MTC bus 102B — plying between Broadway and Perumbakkam — hit her. She died on the spot. Police have arrested the bus driver.
