Sex racket busted, four women rescued
Nagpur: Social service branch (SSB) of the crime branch busted a sex racket being run under the banner of a naturopathy clinic at Ravi Nagar Square and rescued four women who were forced to work as sex workers. The SSB team conducted the raid on Thursday afternoon on the second floor of Regency complex. The police team have booked director of the clinic, MeghnaKharkar, 28, a resident of ChandanNagar, and manager identified as Akash.
A case against both has been registered at Ambazari police station.
Police said that they were tipped off about a sex racket run under the naturopathy clinic in a rented flat. Cops were informed that Kharkar and her manager had employed four women for Rs5,000 per month for the business. Kharkar and her manager would bring customers for the women to the flat. Senior officials including DCP Ranjan Kumar Sharma and Deepali Masirkar confirmed the information and ordered senior police inspector P C Sonwane and his team to conduct the raid. Social worker Rekha Barahate was also present with the cops.
The police team sent a punter, who signalled the cops after confirming the information. However, Kharkar and the manager managed to run away from the spot before the cops reached.
Woman molested
Nagpur: On a complaint filed by 25-year-old woman, Kalamna police booked two men for allegedly molesting her. The woman claimed that the incident took place on Wednesday evening when she was on the terrace of her residence. While the woman was having a walk, the accused — identified as Kanhaiyya Padole and Abhay Gupta — passed indecent comments on her and did indecent acts pointing towards her. The woman immediately raised an alarm and reported the matter to Kalamna police.
Bus knocks dead cleaner
Nagpur: A speeding bus knocked dead a youth while he was repairing a truck at Vihirgaon on Wednesday night. Hudkeshwar Police arrested the bus driver, Javed Nabuk, from Solapur for negligent driving causing death. The deceased identified as Bandu Iwnate was a resident of Vihirgaon. Police said that the truck had some technical fault and thus, Iwnate was repairing the truck when a speeding bus knocked down the truck. The jack supporting the truck broke and Iwnate got trapped below the truck causing his death. Truck driver Jaisingh Uikey rounded up Nabuk and informed Hudkeshwar police.
