Patna: Concerned about maintaining the sanctity of examinations at degree and postgraduate (PG) levels, Magadh University (MU) VC Prof Mohd Ishtiayque termed university and colleges as "temples of learning". "The sanctity of education can be maintained only when students take exams honestly," he added.
Talking to TOI on Wednesday, Ishtiayque said he was committed to rectify the ills plaguing the university.
"The entire examination system has been changed and computerized to maintain transparency in the publication of results. I inspected at least 12 centres in Patna and Jenanabad and was satisfied to see that the exams were being held peacefully under the strict surveillance of university officials," he said.
According to Patna branch office OSD Asha Singh, the VC has warned the centre superintendents and invigilators of stern action in case of dereliction of duty. "At least 45 examinees, including three girls, have been expelled and some of them forwarded to judicial custody. The present exercise to hold fair examinations will be a face-saving task for the university at a time when the authenticity of MU degrees is being questioned outside the state," she added.
