A Can-Am UTV That Seats 6 Adults

If you're looking for a UTV that can haul you and five friends, the new Can-Am Defender MAX is a pickup truck-inspired, recreation-ready option to explore the outdoors.

A comfortable cockpit with a unique removable toolbox, passenger handholds, cup holders, and fold-down armrests will keep you and your riders at ease. The front row's passenger and center seats, as well as the entire rear bench seat, can be flipped up for more floor space in the cab.

With a payload capacity of 1,750 pounds and a tow rating of 2,000 pounds, it's no secret that this vehicle was made tough and strong. The Defender MAX's dumpable cargo bed can handle a hefty 1,000 pounds. Even more impressive is the fact that the tailgate can hold up to 250 pounds.

The cargo bed has integrated anchors, tie-down points, and multiple recesses for you to make the most of your cargo bed space.

Vehicles have three driving modes and a four-mode traction system, so they're flexible if you are using the UTV for different jobs and terrain. Ventilated disc brakes with hydraulic twin-piston calipers are responsible for stopping the vehicle that sits a solid 11 inches above the ground. The UTV has 10 inches of front and rear travel and a 10.6-gallon fuel capacity.

Like the Can-Am Defender, the Defender MAX also has two different heavy-duty Rotax V-Twin engine packages: the 72-hp. HD10 or the 50-hp. HD8. The packages can operate at a lower RPM and still administer maximum torque. Each Defender MAX has a PRO-TORQ transmission with a quick-response system that improves the power transfer to the wheels.

Last fall, BRP made a commitment to introduce a new Can-Am side-by-side vehicle every six months for the next four years. The 2017 Can-Am Defender MAX is the latest model to be added to the company's UTV offerings.

The Defender MAX models will retail for $14,399 to $19,199, depending on the model and color of the vehicle. The units should be rolling out in July and will be available in green, yellow, intense red, pure magnesium metallic, and mossy oak break-up country camo. Defender MAX vehicles should be serviced after 200 hours or 1,865 miles.
