There were two occupants in one vehicle and three in the other vehicle.
It is alleged that when they arrived at the R545 they came upon five vehicles, a white quantum, white Audi Q7, Mercedes Benz, another Audi and a white BMW, all five vehicles were without registration numbers and blocking the road.

This left the two convoys with no alternative route but to proceed with their journey.
It is alleged that about 15 men armed with guns exited the vehicles and started shooting mercilessly. When the driver stopped, the two guards were disarmed and shot. They were rushed to Life Cosmos Private Hospital.

The second G4S vehicle was not damaged and the two occupants escaped without sustaining any injuries.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Slevy Mohlala said they are saddened by this incident because security personnel are also humans.

“We are trying our level best to get the culprits who did this behind bars hence we are pleading with the community to come forth if there is any information they can help us with,” said Brig Mohlala.
