In the first incident, a woman doused herself with kerosene oil and set herself ablaze on Tuesday evening. She was identified as 18-year-old Mahnoor Bibi.
A police official told The Express Tribune, Fiaz, a resident of Khokhar Maira village, Abbottabad, had married Mahnoor Bibi two-and-a-half years ago. The couple had an 18-month-old son.
Fiaz told the police Mahnoor Bibi was having dinner with other members of the family on Tuesday evening when he was not home. The 18-year-old had an argument with them and locked herself in her room. The family broke into her room and found her lying on the floor. She had suffered severe burns. They rushed her to the hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.
The police official said Fiaz failed to reveal the reasons behind the suicide. However, according to Havelian police, investigation is under way to determine whether Mahnoor Bibi committed suicide or was murdered.
Separately, a man allegedly committed suicide in Gherian village. According to the police, 52-year-old Munawar Khan consumed anti-rodent chemicals. He was rushed to District Headquarters and Teaching Hospital Haripur and was referred to Ayub Teaching Hospital.
Munawar’s family said he was suffering from multiple diseases for the last two years and was deeply disturbed by his illness.
In another incident, a man committed suicide in Pind Hasham Khan village on Wednesday.
He has been identified as Amir, a 25-year-old who had been ill for a long time. Although he had been receiving treatment, Amir’s condition was gradually deteriorating.
On Wednesday afternoon, he committed suicide by jumping into a well. He succumbed to his injuries before he could be administered first-aid.
