IMPHAL, April 6: Based on specific intelligence regarding movement of a UG cadre, troops of the 45 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with police representatives from Heingang Police Station established a vehicle check post in general area of Khabeisoi in Imphal East district today and apprehended an active cadre of KCP (Nandu).
A PRO IGAR (S) statement identified the apprehendee as No. 3517, s/s Maj Boi Singh alias Bicky. The apprehendee has been handed over to the Heingang Police Station.
In another operation, troops of the 2 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with Thoubal Police Commandos launched operation in general area of Khongjom in Thoubal district on April 5 and apprehended an over ground worker of PREPAK.
The apprehendee was identified as Nepram Bigyamani alias Bigya Singh, 45 son of N Konungjao Singh of Langathel Maning Leikai.
The apprehendee revealed that he carried out extortion from shopkeepers and businessmen in the general area of Khongjom and further stated that he has recruited one youth namely Puyam Bamboo, 27 son of P Radheshyam of Langathel Maning Leikai.
He has been handed over to the Thoubal Police Station, added the release.
