Asif, Narain’s friendship turns sour
Frenemies have always given way for some delightful comic plots in Mollywood—Yodha and Ramji Rao Speaking for instance. Joining that list will be Asif Ali and Narain starrer Kavi Uddheshichathu?? which is helmed by debutants Thomaskutty and Liju Thomas.
The movie also has Biju Menon in a supporting role and is a “breezy comedy set in the backdrop of a fictional village named Alimoola,” says Thomaskutty.

On the film’s story, he explains, “Asif plays the central character Kavalam Jimmy. He is a cunning youth who hatches a plot to make a girl fall in love with him.”
A parellel narrative deals with the relationship between Asif’s character and the one played by Narain. “An interesting yet trivial issue in their childhood turns the friends into rivals and Biju Menon appears as Minnal Simon who tries to sort the differences between the two,” says Thomaskutty.
The movie will see Narain do a full-length comedy movie for the first time in Malayalam. “It’s one of the rare comic roles that came my way in Malayalam so I didn’t think twice before taking it up,” says the actor. “I play Vattathil Bosco, who belongs to a rich family and brags a lot. But he is as chicken-hearted as they come. A small rift between Jimmy and Bosco paves the way for several light-hearted moments in the movie.”
The film, which will go on floors on April 20, will be extensively shot in Iritty in Kannur with schedules in Pollachi, Palakkad and Kodaikanal.
