Photo Journal: Hear us roar

Paper-mache tigers are seen covering the floor at the shop Takehisa Mamoru Shoten in Setouchi, Okayama Prefecture, in this recent photo. The shop is churning out the handmade tigers, traditionally displayed in homes on May 5's Boys Day to bring them good health as they grow up, as fast as possible ahead of the holiday. The tigers range from 15 to 95 centimeters long, and come in 14 types. Reinforced with plaster, the larger models are apparently sturdy enough for a child to sit on their backs. (Mainichi)
