Noida: Uttar Pradesh BJP president Laxmikant Bajpai visited 40-year-old Farzana, widow of slain NIA officer Mohammed Tanzeel Ahmed, who is battling for her life at Noida's Fortis hsopital.
After paying his visit, Bajpai made an appeal to all concerned to avoid politicising the cold-blooded killing of Tanzeel Ahmed by bike-borne assailants. He promised to urge the Centre and the state government to jointly probe the murder.
Bajpai, along with Noida MLA Vimla Batham and other BJP functionaries, spent around half an hour with the late NIA officer's family. He promised all possible help to the bereaved family from BJP.
Bajpai told TOI that it was an unfortunate crime which should be properly investigated. He said there was a terror angle to the killing as Tanzeel Ahmed had successfully worked on several terror cases.
"I appeal to all political parties to not politicise the issue. It is an attack on humanity. At this difficult hour we have to stand with the family for them to cope with the trauma. We have lost an efficient officer who ensured the safety of lakhs of Indians and his wife is battling for her life. We have to think above politics," Bajpai said.
Farzana had sustained four bullet injuries in her abdomen and leg. The hospital authorities said, "The patient was brought here in a critical condition. Our doctors are providing the best medical treatment to treat her. To maintain patient confidentiality, we cannot comment any further."
NIA officer Mohammed Tanzil Ahmed shot dead, when he was with family returning from a marriage.
Noida MLA Vimla Batham said that everyone remembered him as a dedicated officer. "One of his relative told us that he was very happy when he was inducted in the NIA in 2009 and he always praised his department. However, very few people knew that he worked with the NIA," she said.
