Seajacks jack-up Scylla has installed the first monopile foundation at the 402MW Veja Mate wind farm in the German North Sea.

The milestone was completed earlier this week according to pile gripper hydraulics contractor DGI Doedijns.

Scylla is continuing the installation campaign after the load out of the first foundation pieces was completed earlier this month at the project’s base port in Eemshaven in the Netherlands.

The wind farm will consist of 67 Siemens 6MW turbines using XXL monopiles fabricated by EEW.

The construction site is located some 95km North West of the island of Borkum.

From June through August, Sal Heavy Lift will deliver Bladt-fabricated transition pieces from Aalborg in Denmark to Eemshaven.

Veja Mate shareholders include Siemens Financial Services and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners alongside Highland.

The wind farm is scheduled to be fully operational in 2018.
