Court gives Rs 2 lakh compensation to minor rape victim in Sonepat

SONEPAT: Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-secretary of the District Legal Services Authority Harshali Chowdhary has sanctioned compensation of Rs 2 lakh for minor rape victim of Chhichhrana village under the Haryana Victims Compensation Scheme, 2013.

Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-secretary of the District Legal Services Authority Harshali Chowdhary has sanctioned compensation of Rs 2 lakh for minor rape victim of Chhichhrana village under the Haryana Victims Compensation Scheme, 2013. The special court of Additional Sessions Judge Gagan Geet Kaur had recommended the case for compensation.

The CJM directed payment of Rs 25,000 through cheque for victim’s immediate rehabilitation. The remaining amount of Rs 1.75 lakh would be deposited in fixed deposit till the victim becomes an adult.

No loan shall be advanced against the fixed deposit while the monthly interest would be deposited in the victim’s account.

On victim’s complaint, a case under various sections of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act, 2012, was registered against the accused on February 6, 2015.
