Spl appeal on madrassa exam dismissed

Allahabad: A division bench of Allahabad High Court on Tuesday dismissed a special appeal challenging judgment of a single judge by which he had upheld the decision of UP Madrassa Shiksha Board and the state government to allot exam centres for madrassa students in recognised schools of UP Board.
Dismissing the special appeal filed by Aafreen and six others, a division bench comprising Justice Vimlesh Kumar Shukla and Justice Vivek Kumar Birla upheld the judgment of the single judge dated April 1, saying that there is no illegality in the order of the single judge.

Aafreen and six others had challenged the decision of the Madrassa Board on the ground that examination centres of the Arabi-Farsi Examination 2016 and its centres in intermediate schools were allotted at the instance of minister concerned, Azam Khan, therefore the same is illegal. During the course of hearing of special appeal, additional advocate general Q H Siddiqui and chief standing counsel Ramesh Upadhyay, appearing on behalf of the state, pointed out the division bench that the decision to allot centres in the schools of UP Board was taken to check mass copying. They said 4,23,511 students of 2,628 madrassas have been appearing in the exams of Madrassa Board for which 755 schools of UP Board have been allotted centres.
