Valuables stolen from Chennai businessman’s home

Burglars broke open the house of a businessman at Injambakkam on the East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai and escaped with 120 sovereigns of gold jewellery, worth Rs25 lakh, and Rs 50,000 in cash.

CHENNAI: Burglars broke open the house of a businessman at Injambakkam on the East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai and escaped with 120 sovereigns of gold jewellery, worth Rs25 lakh, and Rs 50,000 in cash.
The burglary came to light when Stephen, who runs a real estate company at Sholinganallur, returned from his office on Monday afternoon.
His family members were not at home as they went to Kanyakumari last week.

On being alerted, the Neelankarai police rushed to the crime scene. Fingerprint experts lifted sets of fingerprints from the house.
The burglars gained entry into the house by breaking open the lock of the main door.
