A general cargoship of Syrian ownership grounded in Greek waters late last night.

The Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG) reports that the 5,883-dwt Zeina. J. (built 1973) got stuck in soft mud off the north coast of Kos.

It was fully laden with silica sand and was conducting a shipment from Egypt’s El-arish to Turkey’s Gemlink port.

According to Clarskons, Zeina. J. is the sole vessel owned by Jendi Group Shipping, a company registered in Tartus, Syria.
