Boy honoured for averting major fire

Presence of mind displayed by 18-year-old Golu on April 2 not only saved shops in Indiranagar's Kohinoor Plaza from being gutted, it also prevented casualties from a fire involving a gas cylinder.

Lucknow: Presence of mind displayed by 18-year-old Golu on April 2 not only saved shops in Indiranagar's Kohinoor Plaza from being gutted, it also prevented casualties from a fire involving a gas cylinder. His bravery might get Golu nominated for National Bravery Award.
Owing to sudden spread of fire in Indiranagar, 4-5 shops developed cracks. Golu immediately removed two gas cylinders from the vicinity, thereby preventing spread of fire to nearby 70 shops.
Lucknow district administration gave a certificate of appreciation along with a reward money of Rs 5,000 to Golu. The administration would also request and recommend for appreciation and financial support from the chief minister, said district magistrate Raj Shekhar.
