18-year-old Brian Blenman gets probation for serious offences

On Thursday 17th, March 2016, 18-year-old Brian Blenman of Grand Turk pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to theft, attempted burglary and burglary and was sentenced to thirty (30) months’ Probation.

He was given 12months probation for theft and 18months probation for burglary and attempted burglary.

The facts are, On Wednesday 6th January 2016 at around 4:56pm a complainant reported on behalf of a guest at the Bajari Beach Grand Turk, that someone stole a beach bag containing One black Cannon Camera, One blue Nike Sport Watch, One Black iPhone, an undisclosed amount of cash, US drivers’ licence and a ship card. Officers immediately launched an investigation into the matter. Brian Blenman was later arrested and charged with theft. He was then taken to court where he pleaded guilty to the charges. He was offered bail awaiting sentence.

While on bail, Mr. Blenman was arrested and charged with burglary and attempted burglary.

It was on Friday 26th February 2016 around 11:09 am, a complainant reported that he was at home on Frith Street Grand Turk, when he saw a male attempting to gain entry into his neighbor’s house. Officers responded to the scene where they noticed that a bathroom window screen was removed, but the culprit was not found. Base on the description of the clothing given, officers found the male person shortly afterwards wearing the exact clothing described by the complainant who happens to be Mr.

Blenman, at the time he had a backpack on his back which contained a blue and green Samsung Tab 3 tablet. He admitted to the offence and was immediately arrested for attempted burglary.

Also, on the same date, a complainant reported that she left home in South Back Salina at 8 am. Upon her returned at 9 am the same day she noticed that her blue and green Samsung Tab 3 that she left home on charge and $900 in cash was missing.

Complainant was able to identify the tablet to the officers and base on the description given it was the same that was found in Blenman’s backpack.

He was later charged and caution for Burglary.
