MUV collides with truck, five killed in Raichur

Accident took place on Sunday night near Yeragol Cross in Chitapur taluk

Five persons returning after attending a marriage in Lingasugur in Raichur district were killed and nine suffered serious injuries when the Multi-Utility Vehicle in which they were travelling collided head on with a speeding truck near Yeragol Cross in Chitapur taluk in Kalaburagi district on Sunday night.

All the five persons died in the Government General Hospital in Kalaburagi city after failing to respond to treatment. The injured were undergoing treatment and most of them were in a serious condition. The dead have been identified as Mahesh, Thippanna Bhutale, Srikant, Tirupati, and Siddappa.

Around 17 persons were travelling in the MUV and they were returning to their native place, Yerakapalli in Chincholi taluk of Kalaburagi district. The driver of the truck abandoned the vehicle and is absconding.
