Having rich religious and historic significance, the Karunasagar Valmiki Tirath Asthaan, Amritsar housing the Ram Tirath Temple, a world class museum and panorama is all set to become a unique paragon in the country by the mid of the year as the world class architectural work at various sites is in full swing.This extraordinary construction may be the first of its own kind in the north India which will depict resemblance to world renowned shrines of Southern India with distinctive design of domes. The main shrine, its domes and parikarma (circumambulation) will have a similar yellow tint of exclusive quality sand marble. The construction of various complexes around the main shrine is also going on war footing.This ambitious project for which state has set aside Rs. 185 crore will be dedicated to whole world by August 2016.  The 70 percent structure work of Karunasagar Valmiki Tirath Asthaan has been completed. Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has taken this project as a mission and the work is going on expeditious mode. The ongoing finishing and cladding work will be soon complete. The work on Parikarmas, museum and panorama, world class accommodation/sarai for pilgrims, administrative block and public amenities is also going on war level while the complex will also have a multi-storeyed parking. The main shrine located in the middle of Paavan Sarovar will have a parikarma which will be approached by causeway connected with deorhis on both ends.

The design of the Tirath Asthaan had been made exclusively on a unique pattern to create a distinct identity. The museum will work as an exhibition space to highlight life, history and teachings of Bhagwan Valmiki ji. Besides, the panorama will describe the major events of Ramayana including the 6 kands of Ramayana namely the Baal kand book, Ayodhya kand , the Aranya kand , Kishkindha kand , Sunder kand and the Yudh kand. The Panorama and the museum will cover approximate 50000 sq feet area for the comfort and facilitation of pilgrims.The outstanding congregation hall will accommodate more than 5000 people at a time for attending religious discourses. The landscape and green belt will match the international standards. The multi-storeyed parking will also have a sufficient place to park more than 600 cars and 10 buses at surface parking.This project envisioned by Govt of Punjab is being executed by Punjab P.W.D. (B&R) department and the architectural consultants are the Department Of Architecture Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.Reiterating his firm commitment to perpetuate the glorious religious and cultural heritage of the state, the Chief Minister also announced to dedicate the upcoming Temple to the nation in current year.
