Now, get driving licence in a single day

Jaipur: Now, submit your documents before 3 pm and get driving licence on the same day. The regional transport department (RTO), Jaipur, has eased the licence procedure from April so as to spare the applicants from visiting the office frequently.
To make the process easy, the RTO has also roped in more man power. Every day, more than 800 people come to procure licence, sources informed.
"An applicant has to complete all the formalities such as giving driving test, fees submission, clearing biometric and other formalities before 3pm.We are trying to issue applicants their driving licences on the same day," VP Singh, regional transport officer, Jaipur, said.
The new initiative is being taken to thwart the nexus of agents, who remain active on the RTO premises. In case, if an applicant fails to complete the required formalities before 3pm, then he can get the licence next day, RTO officials said. tnn
In Jaipur, there are three offices of RTO in Vidhyadhar Nagar, Jagatpura and Jhalana. The busiest among the three offices is Jagatpura office, where around 400 applicants on an average come to get their driving licences. Vidhyadhar Nagar RTO witnesses about 300 license seekers per day, while 150 applicants visit Jalana office per day.
One could see serpentine queues at the offices for completing formalities like biometric process, submission of documents and fees. But, as the transport department has intensified monitoring on the officials, the issuance of the licence has become relatively easy. The transport department demands daily reporting from the officials about the total application received, total licences issued and also the total number of licences not issued with reason.
