Goa Velha woman saved from ending life

Vasco: A 41-year-old woman from Goa Velha who was seen attempting suicide from the Zuari bridge, was noticed by Surendra Madkaikar, personal secretary of environment minister Rajendra Arlekar, who convinced the woman and brought her into safe custody of Agasaim police.
At about 8.30am, Madkaikar was accompanying Arlekar's daughter and son-in- law from Dabolim airport to Pernem.
When the car reached near Zuari bridge, they noticed that a middle-aged woman was crying and bending downwards and attempting to jump into the river, while her 14-year-old daughter was pleading with her not to take any drastic action.
Madkaikar got off the car and approached the duo, got them near his car and convinced her that her problems will be solved. The woman narrated that, she came down to Goa early Saturday morning with her daughter from London, UK. Her husband who also stays in UK, had reached Goa on March 11. When she arrived at their house, her husband fought with her over some issue and refused her entry into the house which rattled her. She then came to the bridge followed by her daughter. The matter was reported to the Agasaim PI Uday Parab.
Parab told mediapersons that the husband and his family was called to the police station and by Saturday evening, the matter was sorted out and the woman was sent with her husband.
