Bail plea rejected

April 03, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:31 am IST - TIRUPUR:

Principal District and Sessions Judge Alamelu Natarajan on Saturday dismissed the bail plea of P. Pandi Durai (49), one of the accused in the murder of Dalit youth V. Shankar at Udumlapet on March 13. The lawyer for Pandi Durai argued that his client did not have any connection in the case, and hence, bail should be granted. Meanwhile, Public Prosecutor for Tirupur district K. N. Subramanian objected to the granting of bail as the investigation was still pending and the case was a meticulously planned murder.

Pandi Durai, a relative of Shankar’s wife Kausalya, was arrested by the police from Dindigul and then was brought to Udumalpet.
