Progressive thinkers and activists are blaming former Minister H.D. Revanna and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda for the animosity between the upper caste people and the Dalits in Sigaranahalli village. R.P. Venkateshamurthy, senior journalist and progressive thinker, at a press conference here on Saturday, said, “It’s an insult to the former Prime Minister that Dalits are not allowed to enter a temple in his native place Haradanahalli. If Mr. Deve Gowda and his son Revanna decide to resolve the issue, it can be done in a matter of minutes,” he said.

Dharmesh, CITU leader, said the district administration and people’s representatives had failed to resolve the issue.

“A. Manju, Minister in charge of the district, has also failed. He has not bothered to visit the village,” he said.
