FATEHGARH SAHIB – Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala, who recently resigned from the SGPC, alleged that committee members were embezzling funds by purchasing land at a higher rate.

Wadala said he would move the court to stop the misuse of SGPC funds. He said he would form the “Sikh Sadbhawna Party” to launch a gurdwara management reform campaign.

Talking to the media here, Wadala said the SGPC owned 526 acres of land, of which it had given 114 acres on lease. It had now decided to purchase another 51 acres at a price of Rs46 lakh per acre. The land was purchased by its present owner for Rs38 lakh an acre two years ago, he claimed.

The executive committee of the SGPC passed a resolution on the matter during a meeting on March 21 at Anandpur Sahib. The move would cause Rs4-crore loss to the SGPC.
