April 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Music director Shashi Preetham suffered bleeding wound when a person Bhanu Prasad assaulted him following an argument on Friday in Madhapur, the police said.

According to Madhapur Inspector K. Narsimhulu, both Preetham and Prasad were known to each other.

They live in the same area. Recently, they developed differences over securing a project related to a documentary film. The music director and Prasad entered into an argument over the matter on Tuesday.

In a fit of rage, Prasad allegedly attacked him resulting in a bleeding injury.

‘Personal grudge’

Sashi Preetham, the music director, who shot to fame with ‘Gulabi’ in 1995 and a few more films over the years, said that since 2012, an ad filmmaker Bhanuprasad bore a personal grudge against him and was waiting for an opportunity to attack him.

“I do not know exactly why, but since 2012, Bhanuprasad thought I had cheated him out of a contract pertaining to documentation in the Defence Research and Development Organisation and stopped talking to me. I knew I was not responsible for the hatred he had for me, but I did not think he would go to the level of physically harming me,” Mr. Sashi Preetham said from the Intensive Care Unit of a corporate hospital.
