Three teachers suspended

April 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - NELLORE:

Authorities of the Sriharikota Range (SHAR) on Friday suspended three teachers and dismissed one contract employee on charges of misbehaving with girl students. The action was based on the preliminary findings of the women’s harassment prevention committee at the space centre’s Central School.

SHAR controller J.V. Raja Reddy told The Hindu that it would not be correct to say that the suspended staff members were guilty at this stage.

Mr. Reddy said that the suspensions were made with a view to ensuring discipline in the prestigious institution. Any final action would be based on the report of the full-fledged committee, which was already probing the charges and would submit its report soon. The suspended teachers were identified as Shanmuga Nathan, A. Garbhoji, and Krishna Prasad. Contract computer operator T. Sudhir was terminated from service.
