Capt suspends Bir Devinder, Brar next?

Capt suspends Bir Devinder, Brar next?
Chandigarh: With infighting threatening to raise its head again in Punjab Congress, state president Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday suspended senior party colleague Bir Devinder Singh for his caustic remarks against him over the past two days. Devinder has been asked to reply by April 7, as why further action should not be taken against him.
Sources in the party informed that suspension of ex-MP Jagmeet Singh Brar, another vocal critic of Amarinder, has been recommended to the party high command by the latter after Brar took to twitter to repeatedly criticize the state leadership.
Since Brar was a member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), it is believed that action against him would be taken after getting approval from the national leadership.
"Bir Devinder Singh has been suspended from the primary membership of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect. A committee headed by Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, with Ajaib Singh Bhatti and Rana K P Singh as members, has been constituted to look further into the matter," said a brief statement released by PPCC.
When contacted, Bir Devinder said he was yet to receive any formal communication from the party about his reported suspension. "If, in his wisdom, Amarinder feels that suspending me will help the party's cause then I don't have a problem. When I left the party, I too was a member of the AICC and after rejoining I had written to the party leadership that the status be restored," he said.
Brar was not available for comments.
Last week, Brar had commented on the next assembly elections and tweeted, "Nothing illogical by giving analysis that AAP is ahead at the ground level work than Akali's and Congress." Then, even as Congress was projecting itself as custodian of state's waters, he posted another tweet: "2004 was a sincere stroke too by Amarinder on termination of agreements. 2016 a master one by Badal. The grand old man has created history."

Amarinder's close aide and Abohar MLA Sunil Jakhar too is believed to be feeling "let down" as his case for Rajya Sabha nomination was not pushed. Some of his close associates had even suggested that he file papers as an independent. This, despite the party leadership assuring to rehabilitate him after replacing him as the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader.
After Amarinder took over as president of Punjab Congress last month, he has been trying hard to keep his flock together. He even tried to placate Brar when he initially expressed displeasure at not being treated well at Amarinder's Bathinda rally.
