Major bovines smuggling bids foiled; 54 cattle rescued, four arrested

RAMBAN, Mar 31: Batote and Patnitop police foiled major bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 54 cattle and arresting four persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Batote laid a naka and intercepted two Srinagar bound trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AA-5191 and JK02AF-1379.
During checking, police rescued 24 bovine animals from the trucks and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Mohammad Sadiq, son of Mohammad Bashir of Talwara and Abdul Qayoom, son of Mohammad Shafi of Reasi.
Meanwhile, police team from Patnitop police post also laid a naka and intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AQ-3147 and JK02AR-2845.
Police rescued 30 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested drivers of both the trucks, who have been identified as Zakir Hussain, son of Ahmed Ali of Khanpur, Nagrota and Mohammad Abrar, son of Gulam Hussain of Dharal.
Cases under FIR Numbers 19/16 and 20/16 under Sections 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act have been registered at police station Batote and investigation started.
Police teams led by SHO Batote Inspector Sameer Jeelani and Incharge Patnitop police post SI Sandeep Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
