The Turkish community in Brussels has set up a tent on Madou Square to show the world terrorism’s true face, representative of a Turkish nongovernmental organization has said.

“Our aim is to say ‘stop’ to terrorism, and show the whole world just how inhumane terror is,” Basir Hamarat, head of the Belgian branch of the Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD), told Anadolu Agency Thursday.

The tent will display photographs of terrorist victims from around the world, including members of Turkish security forces and civilians killed in terrorist organization PKK attacks in Turkey, as well as victims of other terrorist attacks in Belgium, France and Pakistan, Hamarat said.

"The victims of terror in Europe are just as important to us as our martyrs in Turkey. We are against all terrorist organizations, including the PKK and Daesh,” he said, adding that the tent would be up for two days.

He also said they would apply to extend the permit of the tent.

The move came as a response to the Belgian government’s decision to allow PKK-supporters set up their own controversial tent and protest site near the European Council building in Brussels.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU, resumed its 30-year armed campaign against Turkey in late July. Since then, more than 300 members of security forces have been martyred.
