Jayden Short promoted to Richmond Tigers senior list

Updated

Richmond have promoted rookie Jayden Short to their senior list in place of the injured Reece Conca.

Conca, who has been placed on the club's long-term injury list, suffered a serious hamstring injury in the Tigers' final pre-season game against Port Adelaide three weeks ago and isn't expected to be fully fit until round seven at the earliest.

The untried Short spent his first season at the Tigers last year playing in the reserves.

Former Port Adelaide premiership coach, and current Richmond senior development coach, Mark Williams said Short was in prime physical condition.

"He did a lot of work running in the off-season, and he came back and ran some personal bests (in the pre-season)," Williams said.

"At training, he's been a standout with his tackling, his chasing and goalkicking.

"He's probably improved as much as any of our young players from last year to this year."

The 20-year-old was selected by Richmond with pick No.11 in the 2015 rookie draft.
