Mahila court judge N. Vasanthaleela sentenced K. Ashokan (55), who ran a chit company, to ten years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl at Udumalpet during 2011, on Wednesday late evening. V. Parimala, the Special Public Prosecutor, said the accused, who was married twice, sexually assaulted the girl five times after threatening her on each occasion.

The girl subsequently delivered a stillborn baby and her parents buried the body.

The body was later exhumed and a case was registered at All Woman Police Station in Udumalpet.
