Taiwan pineapples enter eastern markets in China

The fruit industry is booming in Hangzhou. This week, a large ribbon-cutting ceremony has taken place to celebrate the import of 50 tons of pineapples by sea from Taiwan. Taiwanese Shengfa Fresh Agricultural Products participated in the ceremony.

Taiwan is known as "the island of fruit" in China. The country exports pineapple, mango, custard apples, wax apples, guava and other rare tropical fruits to China.

Taiwan fruits are limited in production and transport normally encounters have high logistic costs, resulting in higher price on the Mainland markets. However, no import by sea is more frequently used, prices are expected to decline.
