A single bench of Chief Judge Purushottam Bhandari issued the orders demanding written explanations from the police and the local administration of Mahottari on the matter within 15 days. Yadav, a resident of Mahottari VDC-5, was allegedly killed by security personnel on September 9 in Jaleshwor during a political protest in the Tarai last year. When his father Indu Yadav, on January, reached the police station to lodge a complaint against those who were responsible for the death of his son, police refused to register the complaint.
With the support of Tarai Human Rights Defenders Alliance, Indu had filed a writ petition at Janakpur Appellate Court on Sunday, urging the court to order the Mahottari police to register the FIR and conduct an impartial and time-bound investigation into the killing of his son.
