CPI(M) State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram has demanded that the State government address the problems being faced by drought-hit mandals instead of waiting for funds from the Centre. Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr. Veerabhadram said that the government was shedding its responsibility after declaring the mandals drought-hit. “The government has been neglecting irrigation projects that can be completed by little investment whereas the focus is more on redesigning the projects. It seems that the redesigning is to swindle funds,” alleged Mr. Veerabhadram, adding that winning more seats and votes in by-elections does not mean the ruling was perfect. People are voting for ruling party as they lost confidence in both the Congress and TDP, commented Mr. Veerabhadram.
