Chandigarh: Degrees were awarded to 882 first division holding students at the 44th annual convocation of MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh. Himachal Pradesh governor Acharya Dev Vrat was the chief guest.
Illustrious college alumni were also invited to the event. The college honoured deputy secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry Palka Sahni, excise and taxation officer Ramandeep Kaur and consultant on energy issues with the World Bank, Reenu Aneja.
Dev Vrat described MCM as a force to reckon with in the educational sphere.
Citing the example of the traditional education system followed in Gurukuls, he underlined the significance of holistic education.
College principal Dr Nisha Bhargava read the annual report.
Excellence Honoured
Heena Garg, who stood sixth in PU in MA II Economics, received a special prize. Parul Agarwal was honoured for securing second position in PU BSc, III.
Nishi Gupta was honoured for getting seventh position in BA III and second place in economics honours in PU. Shreya Gupta of BBA III stood seventh and Kiran Sachdeva of BCA III stood tenth in the PU annual examination.
