Indo-Pak troops trade firing in Tanghdar

SRINAGAR, Mar 29: Indian and Pakistani troops today traded fire along the Line of Control (LoC) after Pakistan Rangers objected “new constructions” at a forward post in North Kashmir’s Tanghdar sector while Army fired in the sector after they noticed suspicious movement near LoC.
A senior security force official said that 26-Rajput of Army were raising new constructions at Anil Post in Tanghdar sector near the LoC and Pakistan Rangers asked them to stop these constructions by shouting at them this morning.
After, Indian Army continued the construction works, Pakistani Rangers fired heavily forcing the Indian Army to stop constructions. However, Army also fired back leading to exchange of fire from both the sides.
The tension prevailed in Anil Post area of the sector and both sides are at an eyeball to eyeball position. However, firing has stopped and so has the construction work.
Both the countries are under an agreement not to raise new constructions in 500 meters area along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan feels India is violating the agreement while Indian Army feels that renovation of the damaged bunkers is not violation of the agreement.
Earlier in 2014, Pakistan Rangers raised objections on the construction of road near the LoC in Uri sector. The road in Uri sector was being constructed under the Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). It was spending Rs7.5 crore to construct a 12 kilometer road to connect three LoC villages – Balakote, Silikote and Hathlanga – in the Uri sector. However, the issue was later resolved.
In October 2013, Army forced the State Government to suspend the work on the model village along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Kupwara district after Pakistan objected it. Under the Border Area Development project, State Government was spending Rs 2.18 crore on different works including roads, children’s park, community hall and library blocks in Keran sector. However, the issue was later resolved after Pakistan gave green signal for the work.
In another incident in Tanghdar sector, Army this morning opened fire after they found suspicious movement near the LoC.
A top official said that Army in the forward area fired in Tanghdar sector after they found suspicious movement in Khodi area of Pakistan occupied Kashmir on the LoC.
Two men were found in a nullah making suspicious movement near the LoC and Army fired at them, However, they fled back. Sources said that these two men were conducting recce before infiltration of militants in the sector.
Sources said that  around 150 militants have gathered at the launch pads near 400 kilometer long LoC in PoK ready for infiltration into Kashmir. These militants are in 12 launch pads that are in PoK near the LoC and they conduct recce before infiltration.
Meanwhile, Army today recovered arms and ammunition from forest area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
An operation was launched by 14-RR of Army in Buth forests of Bandipora this morning during which one Chinese pistol, two magazines, 78 pistol rounds, one pistol pouch, three electronic detonators, nine detonators, nine grenades and eight grenade fuses were recovered from them.
