Hyderabad: MIM wants all tests in Urdu as well

When all the recruitment exams in state are held in Telugu and English languages, why they can't be held in Urdu also, says Owaisi.

Hyderabad: MIM floor leader in the Legislative Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi on Monday demanded that the state government conduct all recruitment exams in Urdu apart from English and Telugu.

Speaking in the Assembly, Mr Owaisi said, “The Telangana government has declared Urdu as second language. But Urdu will not survive with this initiative alone. It should be linked with employment by conducting recruitment exams in Urdu.

When all the recruitment exams in state are held in Telugu and English languages, why they can’t be held in Urdu also.” He expressed concern over the meager representation of minorities in the judiciary, saying it was less than 1 per cent.

“There is hardly any representation of minorities as public prosecutors and judges. After bifurcation of the High Court and formation of Telangana High Court, the new posts of junior district judges and civil judges would come up, which would be filled through recruitment exams.

The government should set up study circles and career guidance cell for minorities,” he said. He also sought restoring double-decker buses, for which Hyderabad was once famous.
