SRINGAR, Mar 28: Scores of lecturer applicants accused Amarsingh College administration of flouting Higher Education rules and criteria in the academic arrangement list for year 2016-2017.
The applicants said NET/SET is eligibility criteria and no points should be given for the same in higher education recruitment policy but they four points have been given to applicants with NET/SET.
“Similarly, PhD degree, the highest degree qualification for the higher education department, is given 4 points, M.phill 2 points and candidates with both M.phill and P.hD degrees are given 6 points which is again a violation since the highest qualification should be considered here,” they said.
The applicants further alleged that the merit list, which is out on the website of the College, has ignored the eligible candidates. “We appeal Commissioner Secretary to look into the matter,” they said, adding that they are mulling to approach judiciary.
Principal Amarsingh College, Muhammad Aslam Baba said they have set balanced criteria to varied groups of applicants. “There are 7000 applicants which include PhDs, non-PhDs, M.Phills, NET/SET and also with experiences of 7 to 12 years. We have given equal weightage and we have to take care of all groups. We cannot go by the dictation of few applicants,” he added.
